Abstract
The aim of this work was to develop a simple method of evaluation directed to amateur cyclists, which allows to assess the body composition and physiological conditions, in order tooptimize the performance and athletic performance of this population. Materials and methods: This study is of a quantitative and descriptive nature, which is based on the analysis of a case study of a 23-year-old male. The proposed analysis variables included: body composition: weight, height, body mass index (BMI) and somatotype; physiological conditions: cardiac cost, VO2max, maximum heart rate, maximal strength (1RM) of lower limbs and overall flexibility. Results: Man of 168 cm of height, 82.3 Kg of weight, with BMI of 29.159 Kg / m2, an endo-mesomorphic somatotype; the VO2 max. was 51 mL / Kg /min. The 1RM in press is 145 Kg and 57 Kg for plantar flexion, and in Flexitest he presents 45 points. Conclusions: The increase of the practicing cycling population in Colombia has been increasing if one takes into account the currentmobility situation and the high economic cost that itgenerates; Thus, to implement basic evaluation guidelines that allow to identify the physiological conditions of theamateur cyclists, becomes a fundamental aspect that wouldlead to the optimization in the execution of the sportinggesture in each one of its phases As well as the determinantsof the physical condition
