Abstract

Osteomuscular disorders are the most frequent reasons for the establishment of intervention care programs in Physiotherapy, because they generate important socioeconomic impacts due to the disabilities and work absences that they trigger. However, a profile is known that can specify the main demographic, epidemiological and care characteristics provided to this type of conditions in a Physiotherapy Service, from which care programs can be defined that contribute to significantly reducing the implications of the musculoskeletal conditions. For this reason, a cross-sectional study was developed in the Physiotherapy program of the Ibero-American University Institution, aimed at defining these characteristics in the population that consults for these pathologies at the Physiotherapy service of a second level care hospital. It was found that during the study period, 57 patients were treated, of which 75.4% were female, the average age was 44 years with a range from 5 to 70 years; 10.5% of the patients treated were diagnosed with foot-neck fractures, 10.5% with Rotator Cuff Syndrome, and 8.7% with Colles' fracture, on average the patients
received five intervention sessions, 82.4% of patients were treated on an outpatient basis. Based on the research findings, it was concluded that the osteomuscular conditions treated in this Physiotherapy service are significantly related
with traumatic factors, and overuse syndromes, aspects to take into account for the development of prevention programs in this hospital.
