Abstract

This article exposes Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease in terms of definition, types, causes and prevalence in the population over 60 years of age, and its possible alterations at the level of the spinal column. Taking into account the biological and physiological changes that occur in the lung and the adverse consequences on the musculoskeletal system, which result in alterations in body movement, quickly leading to deficiencies, limitations and everything that this implies in the health condition. of the person, the aim of this descriptive research is to know the frequency of postural alterations at the level of the spinal column, in patients who are diagnosed with chronic obstructive disease, using the observational method, taking as a sample the patients who come to the outpatient clinic. from a second level hospital in the city of Bogotá during the months of October 2008 to January 2009 and medically diagnosed with COPD to then analyze the results and be able to record the frequency of postural alterations in the spine in this population.
