The Faculty of Human Kinetics and Physical Therapy of the Corporación Universitaria Iberoamericana is pleased to present Volume 3, Number 1 of the Movimiento Científico Journal, in celebration of the Institution’s 30th anniversary and the ongoing High-Quality Accreditation process of the Physical Therapy program.

This third volume of Movimiento Científico Journal is the result of a continuous path of academic development, showcasing the research processes of faculty members and students from undergraduate and postgraduate programs in our Faculty, as well as other professionals who are distinguished representatives of universities such as Universidad Autónoma de Manizales, María Cano University in Popayán, and the National University of Colombia. These contributors, through their ongoing inquiry into Human Body Movement, are dedicated to knowledge management within the professional field. This work makes a significant contribution to physical therapists, presenting academic research and innovation stemming from the evolution of science and technology, aimed at achieving higher-quality interventions that meet the needs of a dynamic and ever-changing society requiring new approaches to enhance health and well-being.

This issue contains fourteen articles categorized into two groups. In the first section, there are six articles resulting from scientific and technological research; in the second section, there are eight articles based on rigorous theoretical reviews. We are pleased to present the works published in this issue, described below:

In the first section, Patricia Cáceres, Yury Galeano, Jenny Marcela Gómez, and Johanna Rodríguez present the results of their research titled Design and Development of a Physical Therapy Guide for Exercise Prescription Based on Nutritional Parameters in Adult Patients in Intensive Care Units.

Adriana Milena Pachón Álvarez, in her article Cardiovascular Endurance Conditions in Patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, analyzes the behavior of various variables after applying the Six-Minute Walk Test, establishing the cardiovascular endurance conditions necessary for better physical exercise prescription.

In this same area of interest, the article Motor Performance Traits in Children with Congenital Heart Disease Aged 0 to 3 Years from the Hospital Cardiovascular del Niño de Cundinamarca, authored by Janneth Pajarito, Juliana Ancines, Johana Aguilar, Martha De la Hoz, Carmelo Peñata, Nancy Ríos, and Etna Zuluaga, explores the correlation between cardiac output alterations and motor development delays.

Physical therapists Erika Gordillo, Luz Amparo Fernández, Diana Marcela González, Magaly Pérez Montero, Ana María Pinza, Jennifer Quijano Raad, and Professor Patricia López present a postgraduate research project in Critical Care Physical Therapy titled Arterial Blood Gas Intervals in Healthy Adults in Neiva, establishing reference values for a population living at 442 meters above sea level.

In the field of Occupational Health, a high-impact study for the physical therapy profession titled Occupational Biological Risks Faced by Physical Therapists in Level II and III Hospitals in the City of Popayán is presented. Authors Carlos Iván Salazar, James Ricardo Viveros, Diana María Montenegro Guzmán, Oscar Mariano Obando Arteaga, and Wladimir Mosquera seek to expand knowledge on occupational accidents related to biological risks and contribute to the development of strategies to reduce their occurrence.

This section concludes with the publication of the research project Prevalence of Low Back Pain in Patients Treated During Internships by the Physical Therapy Program of the Corporación Universitaria Iberoamericana, developed by physical therapist Adriana Lucía Castellanos Garrido, who addresses this public health issue, highlighting the lack of prevalence studies to determine consultation reasons.

The second part of the journal presents the academic community with a series of theoretical reviews aimed at expanding knowledge in various specialized areas of physical therapy, including occupational health and the development of physical conditioning programs, among others.

We highlight the participation of physical therapist faculty members such as James Ricardo Viveros Aguilar, Carmen Liliana Rodríguez Medina, Gabriel Díaz Reina, Claudia Constanza Carvajal, and Mónica Yamile Pinzón Bernal, who, through their articles, share the same intention as the Faculty of Human Kinetics and Physical Therapy to promote research and academic advancement in the field, fostering reflection and disciplinary consolidation.

Finally, we provide a space for Specialists in Formulation and Management of Physical Conditioning Programs Jennifer González Sanabria, Martha Mery Hernández, Nancy León Estupiñán, Elkin Yecid Rubiano, Deyci Cantor Garzón, and Caterine Moreno Monroy to share programs developed within their specialization, targeting specific populations such as patients with anterior cruciate ligament fixation using biodegradable screws, adults living with HIV in stages I and II, and fourth-cycle students from the Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra School.

We hope that the articles published in this issue are of great interest and professional benefit to our readers. We deeply appreciate your continued trust and commitment to the Corporación Universitaria Iberoamericana and the Faculty. Our sincere gratitude goes to the authors and the editorial team this work is a testament to their effort, dedication, and shared commitment to a common goal.
