The Movimiento Científico Journal is committed to the highest standards of publication ethics, scientific integrity, editorial transparency, and responsible research. The Journal adheres to the principles established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and supports the San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA), promoting ethical editorial practices throughout all stages of the publication process.
These ethical guidelines define the responsibilities of authors, reviewers, editors, and members of the Editorial Committee, ensuring fairness, confidentiality, transparency, accountability, and the integrity of the scientific record. They also establish the Journal's policies regarding plagiarism, duplicate publication, conflicts of interest, corrections, retractions, and the responsible use of artificial intelligence in scholarly publishing.
All manuscripts (research articles or case reports) submitted to the Movimiento Científico Journal that derive from research involving human participants or non-human living beings (directly or indirectly) must include, where applicable, an ethics statement specifying the research risk classification, the ethical principles and regulations followed, the informed consent process, the scientific integrity standards adopted during the research, and the Research Ethics Committee that approved the study. In addition, authors must upload the corresponding ethics approval letter as a supplementary file during manuscript submission.
Manuscripts must also reference the applicable national and international regulations governing research conduct and the management of research data and results. For studies conducted in Colombia, authors must specify the level of research risk established under Resolution 8430 of 1993 issued by the Colombian Ministry of Health (no risk, minimal risk, or greater than minimal risk), together with the measures implemented to control or mitigate such risks, and compliance with the Minciencias Policy on Ethics, Bioethics and Scientific Integrity (2017). For studies conducted in other countries, authors must explicitly state compliance with the Declaration of Helsinki (2024), the APA Ethics Code (2017) or its updated version, the CIOMS International Ethical Guidelines (2016), as well as any applicable local legislation.
Authors must ensure the protection of the rights, privacy, and confidentiality of all individuals, institutions, and communities participating in the research, avoiding the inappropriate disclosure of sensitive information or personal data.
The Journal seeks to publish manuscripts of the highest scientific quality while safeguarding academic freedom, scientific integrity, and editorial independence. Articles must remain free from external influence or institutional pressure. When necessary, the Journal may publish corrections, clarifications, errata, corrigenda, retractions, or apologies.
The Journal follows the recommendations of COPE for handling post-publication issues. Minor errors that do not affect the study conclusions will be corrected through an erratum. Errors partially affecting the conclusions will be addressed through a corrigendum. Retractions will be issued in cases involving unreliable findings, plagiarism, duplicate publication, fraud involving research participants, or serious methodological flaws that invalidate the study. Authors may request voluntary retraction, while the Journal reserves the right to retract an article when authors fail to cooperate. Retracted articles will remain publicly accessible and clearly marked as "Retracted" to preserve the integrity of the scholarly record.
Note: Should any of these errors be detected after publication, the authors will be notified in a timely and appropriate manner.
The Journal will not publish manuscripts involving plagiarism, data manipulation, fabrication or falsification of research results, simultaneous submission to multiple journals, duplicate publication, self-plagiarism, ghost authorship, or salami publication (fragmentation of the same research findings into multiple manuscripts). Should any of these forms of misconduct be identified after publication, the corresponding article will be withdrawn from the Journal's collection, and the authors will be notified promptly.
Authors retain copyright of their work and grant the editors of the Movimiento Científico Journal a non-exclusive, unlimited authorization to publish the article in its corresponding issue and to reproduce, edit, distribute, preserve, and disseminate it nationally and internationally through electronic, digital, magnetic, or any other current or future media, while ensuring proper attribution and recognition of authorship.
For research conducted in Colombia involving vulnerable populations (children, persons with disabilities, subordinated groups, pregnant women, or communities), authors must explicitly state compliance with the safeguards established in Chapters II–V of Resolution 8430 of 1993. For international studies, equivalent standards established by the APA Ethics Code, the CIOMS Guidelines, and applicable local legislation must be followed, including safeguards related to decision-making capacity, protection against exploitation, and prevention of stigmatization.
Authors using artificial intelligence tools (such as ChatGPT, Grammarly, DeepL, or similar applications) must explicitly disclose their use in the cover letter, specifying the tool employed and the stage of the writing process in which it was used (language editing, grammar correction, or clarity improvement).
Artificial intelligence may only be used to support language editing, grammar, spelling, and readability. AI systems shall not be credited as authors and may not be used to generate research data, perform statistical analyses, interpret results, design methodologies, or draft original sections of the manuscript (Introduction, Literature Review, Methods, Discussion, or Conclusions).
Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, validity, ethical integrity, and scientific content of their manuscripts. The Editorial Committee may request additional information regarding AI use whenever inconsistencies are detected.
Peer reviewers play a fundamental role in ensuring the scientific quality, editorial transparency, and integrity of the publication process at the Movimiento Científico Journal.
Peer reviewers shall conduct the review process with objectivity, confidentiality, academic independence, and respect for the ethical principles governing scholarly peer review. Reviewers are expected to disclose any actual or potential conflicts of interest that may affect their impartiality.
Reviewers are committed to providing honest, constructive, unbiased, and evidence-based evaluations, considering both the scientific content and the formal presentation of the manuscript.
All information obtained during the peer-review process is strictly confidential and shall not be used for personal, academic, commercial, or any other unauthorized purposes.
Reviewers are required to complete the Journal's official peer-review form and may alert the Editorial Team if they identify evidence of duplicate publication, simultaneous submission, plagiarism, or previously published material.
Reviewers are expected to complete the evaluation within 15 business days. If reviewers are unable to meet the established deadline, they should promptly notify the Editorial Team to ensure compliance with the Journal's editorial schedule.
Reviewers are encouraged to provide clear, precise, and constructive recommendations, including suggestions for improving the manuscript and relevant scientific literature that may strengthen the work.
Reviewers shall not use artificial intelligence tools to generate peer-review reports or to replace their independent scientific judgment regarding the quality, originality, ethical compliance, or scientific merit of submitted manuscripts.
Artificial intelligence may only be used to support language editing in communications with the Journal or for limited information verification. Under no circumstances may AI be used to perform the substantive scientific evaluation of a manuscript.
Reviewers remain fully responsible for the originality, accuracy, objectivity, and scientific quality of their evaluation reports.

Editors and members of the Editorial Team shall not disclose any information related to manuscripts under review to individuals other than the corresponding authors, reviewers, editors, or authorized members of the editorial office.
Editors are responsible for ensuring compliance with the Journal's editorial timelines, including the peer-review process and the publication of accepted manuscripts.
Editors shall not use artificial intelligence tools to make final editorial decisions regarding the acceptance or rejection of manuscripts.
Editorial decisions shall always rely on the expert judgment of the Editorial Committee and the recommendations provided by qualified peer reviewers.
Editors shall perform their duties in accordance with the COPE Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors and the Minciencias Policy on Ethics, Bioethics and Scientific Integrity (2017), as well as internationally recognized principles of responsible research and scholarly publishing.
The Journal does not discriminate against authors on the basis of gender, sexual orientation, nationality, institutional affiliation, religious beliefs, ethnic origin, political views, or any other non-academic consideration.
The Editorial Team is responsible for safeguarding the confidentiality of all information provided by authors and reviewers and for ensuring compliance with the Journal's ethical policies, editorial standards, and principles of scientific integrity throughout the publication process.
Before entering the peer-review process, all manuscripts submitted to the Movimiento Científico Journal undergo an originality assessment using specialized text-similarity detection software to identify potential plagiarism, duplicate publication, or other forms of academic misconduct.

Artificial intelligence tools may assist with specific editorial tasks but shall never replace critical evaluation, scientific expertise, editorial independence, or the ethical responsibilities of authors, reviewers, and editors.
