Abstract

Research is understood as "an essential social practice for the cultural, economic, social, and political development of the country..."1
, a position that entails significant challenges for academia in order to: a) promote the development of research skills in students; b) generate impactful research that is recognized nationally and internationally; c) meet institutional development indicators; and perhaps most importantly, d) propose alternative solutions to the perceived needs of communities seeking the country's human development.2
This situation is similar in all HEIs, both public and private, that are faced with meeting indicators ranging from training, academic and research production, financial investment, the establishment of academic cooperation networks, and an effective and ethical response to the social needs of our country, among others. This is without ignoring the fact that the demands or standards for measuring research are projected to be increasingly higher, reflecting the current dynamics, or rather, the globalization of research. For this reason, the Scientific Movement Journal presents a new volume with the aim of contributing to the dissemination of scientific work on human body movement, public health, and related areas.
These pages, which you can review below, review evidence of the effects of physical exercise in specific situations, continue with a characterization of populations of interest in the context of health, and conclude with bibliographic reviews of pathologies or conditions that trigger functional limitations or disabilities in our populations.
