Revista Movimiento Científico adheres to the Code of Conduct and Best Practices for Editors of Scientific Journals proposed by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). The journal also adheres to the DORA Declaration.
All manuscripts (articles or case reports) submitted to Revista Movimiento Científico that are derived from research processes involving human beings or non-human living beings (directly or indirectly) must state, in the ethical considerations section, as applicable: the classification of the research according to risk level, the principles and standards on research ethics taken into account, the process for obtaining informed consent, the criteria and standards on scientific integrity assumed throughout the process, and must credit the Research Ethics Committee that approved the study. Furthermore, at the time of manuscript submission, the approval obtained from said Committee must be attached as an annex file.
Manuscripts must reference the national and international regulations associated with the development of research and the handling of data and results derived from the study conducted. For research carried out in the Colombian context, it will be necessary to specify, in accordance with the provisions of Resolution 8430 of 1993 of the Colombian Ministry of Health, the risk level of the research (no risk, minimal risk, or greater than minimal risk), together with the actions implemented for its control or mitigation, as well as compliance with the Ethics, Bioethics and Scientific Integrity Policy of Minciencias (2017). For research conducted in international contexts, compliance must be stated with the Declaration of Helsinki (2024) of the World Medical Association, the APA Code of Ethics (2017) or its updated version, and the CIOMS Guidelines (2016) for biomedical research, as well as the local legislation applicable to the specific context in which the research is conducted.
Authors must guarantee the protection of the rights, privacy, and confidentiality of the individuals, institutions, or communities participating in the research processes, avoiding the improper disclosure of sensitive information or personal data.
The journal strives to publish documents of excellence and quality, safeguarding freedom of expression on the part of researchers or authors, the scientific and academic integrity of article content, and ensuring these are free from external interference or pressures of any kind from institutions or governing bodies. When necessary, the journal will publish corrections, clarifications, errata notices, retractions, and apologies.
The journal follows COPE standards for error management. Minor corrections (errata) are published for typographical or data errors that do not affect conclusions. Significant corrections (corrigendum) apply to errors that partially affect conclusions. Retractions are published for unreliable findings, plagiarism, duplication, research fraud involving human subjects, or serious methodological errors that invalidate the work. Authors may request voluntary retraction; the journal may retract unilaterally if authors do not cooperate. Retractions remain accessible, marked as "Retracted," in order to preserve the integrity of the scientific record.
Articles presenting failures related to the violation of copyright will not be published, including: plagiarism, manipulation, fabrication or falsification of data presented as research results, simultaneous submission to other journals of the same manuscript, duplicate publication or self-plagiarism, ghost authorship, or the fragmentation of the same results into several articles when these constitute a single unit. In cases where any such violation is detected after publication has taken place, the respective article will be removed from the journal's repository. In all cases, authors will be notified in a timely and appropriate manner.
Authors are the owner(s) of the copyright and grant, without limitation in time, the editors of Revista Movimiento Científico authorization to include the article in the corresponding volume and issue in full text, and to reproduce, edit, distribute, and display it within the country or abroad through electronic, magnetic, or any other known or yet-to-be-known means, preserving the author's name and ensuring that it is acknowledged in the citation and referencing of the work; that is, Revista Movimiento Científico retains the patrimonial rights.
For research conducted in the Colombian context involving vulnerable populations (minors, persons with disabilities, subordinate groups, pregnant women, or communities), explicit compliance must be stated with the specific safeguards established in Chapters II–V of Resolution 8430 of 1993 of the Colombian Ministry of Health. In international contexts, the equivalent APA and CIOMS standards for the protection of vulnerable populations will apply, including assessment of decision-making capacity, prevention of exploitation, and guarantees against stigmatization, as well as the local legislation applicable to the specific context in which the research is conducted.
Authors submitting manuscripts to Revista Movimiento Científico must guarantee that: the works are original and previously unpublished; the manuscript is not simultaneously under evaluation in another journal; all sources used are duly cited and referenced in accordance with APA Standards, seventh edition; and the individuals listed as authors made significant academic contributions to the study.
Authors are required to adequately disclose conflicts of interest, funding sources, and institutional support from which the research article originates.
Authors who use artificial intelligence tools (such as ChatGPT, Grammarly, DeepL, or similar) must declare this explicitly in the cover letter, specifying which tool was used and at which stage of the process (style review, grammar correction, clarity improvement). The use of AI is limited exclusively to support tasks related to style review, grammar, spelling, and text clarity. Under no circumstances will authorship be attributed to artificial intelligence systems, nor will the use of AI be permitted for data generation, statistical analysis, interpretation of results, methodological design, or the drafting of original sections of the manuscript (introduction, theoretical framework, methodology, discussion, conclusions). Authors retain full responsibility for the accuracy, originality, validity of the content, and ethical compliance of the research. The editorial committee may request clarifications regarding the use of AI if inconsistencies in the text are detected.
Peer reviewers must carry out the arbitration process with objectivity, confidentiality, academic independence, and respect for the ethical principles of scientific evaluation, disclosing any potential conflicts of interest that may arise.
Reviewers commit to conducting an honest and unbiased critical review of both the formal and content-related aspects of the manuscript and to issuing reasoned and constructive evaluations.
Information provided during the evaluation process may not be used for personal, academic, or commercial purposes.
Reviewers will submit the duly completed article evaluation form of the journal; they may notify the editors if portions of the work have already been published in another publication or are currently under editorial review in another journal.
Reviewers commit to evaluating submissions in the shortest possible time (15 business days). Should a reviewer be unable to complete the task within the scheduled timeframe, they will notify the editors so that the deadlines for the submission of the ruling, as stipulated in the journal's policies, are respected.
Reviewers may suggest and precisely indicate adjustments and specific works or bibliographic references that may be reviewed and incorporated into the text by the authors.
Reviewers will not use artificial intelligence tools to generate their evaluation reports, nor to substitute their critical and expert judgment regarding the scientific and ethical quality of the manuscript. The use of AI is limited exclusively to style review tasks in their own written communications with the journal and to information verification, and must never be used for the substantive evaluation of the work. Reviewers are responsible for the originality and accuracy of their reports.
The Editor-in-Chief and the Editorial Committee will guarantee transparent and impartial editorial processes guided exclusively by academic and scientific criteria.
Editorial decisions will be based on: the scientific quality of the manuscript, thematic relevance, compliance with ethical and editorial standards, and the evaluations issued by academic reviewers.
Editors and members of the editorial team commit to not disclosing information related to manuscripts under evaluation to individuals other than authors, reviewers, and editors.
Editors are responsible for meeting the time limits for reviews and for the publication of accepted works.
Editors will not use artificial intelligence tools to make final editorial decisions regarding the acceptance or rejection of manuscripts. Editorial decisions will be based on the expert judgment of the Editorial Committee and the evaluations of specialized reviewers.
The conduct of editors will be aligned with the COPE Code of Conduct for Journal Editors and with the Ethics, Bioethics and Scientific Integrity Policy (2017) of Minciencias, Colombia.
The journal will not engage in any form of discrimination based on gender, sexual orientation, nationality, institutional affiliation, religious beliefs, ethnic origin, or political position of the authors.
The editorial team will guarantee the confidential handling of information provided by authors and reviewers and will ensure compliance with the journal's ethical and editorial policies.
Documents received by Revista Movimiento Científico, prior to the approval process, will undergo a review through the use of software that allows the degree of similarity to be established, in order to prevent submitted articles from presenting plagiarism-related issues.
If there is no high percentage of similarity indicative of plagiarism, the manuscript publication process will proceed.
If there is a high percentage of similarity indicative of plagiarism, following a contextual analysis of the manuscript, the submission process will be suspended.
