Abstract
Introduction: Volleyball is a sport that due to its intensity and demand requires athletes with high skills; VO2max have a decisive role among these, because oxygen is the most basic resource of human metabolism; so their recruitment, mobilization and use are of special attention. In addition, it has been seen that in this sport it is  important to accomplish an adequate process of selection and specialization of talents from the initial stages; accordingly exist the dermatoglyphics as a tool to find potentials of performance in athletes for its facility to quantify a stable genetic marker and in this way become supportive in processes of initiation, specialization and training  appropriate and successful. Objective . To identify the relationship between the dermatoglyphic characteristics and the maximum oxygen consumption values in the members of the women’s volleyball team of the Santo Tomás University, Bogotá. Methodology: Quantitative approach, of cross-sectional design, the athletes of the women’s volleyball team of the Santo Tomas University was evaluated, the dermatoglyphic indicators were determined according to Cummins H and Midlo C 1942. and a maximal test was used to determine the oxygen consumption using the modified Bruce protocol proposed by Badawy y Muaidi. 2017. Results: A total of 8 athletes, 2 middle blockers, 4 hitters, 1 libero and 1 setter were evaluated, with an average VO2 max of 42.625, a STQL of 160.06 and a D10 of 12.68, and a percentage of designs mostly LW, which expresses higher levels of endurance and coordination. Conclusion: The findings show in agreement to the literature, subjects with high values of D10 and STQL show a better maximum oxygen consumption, in addition to a high level of coordination, checking what was found in previous investigations
