Abstract

The research in physical therapy in our country is low still. Nevertheless, it regulates the quality educational to guarantee the excellence professional of the future physiotherapists and the accreditation of the programs formation. It presents a review of the state of the research in the program of physical therapy of the Mariana University – UNIMAR - with the target to determine the methodological behavior of the investigations 2013-2016 and to serve as base for the self-assessment processes with the target of the accreditation. Quantitative study of descriptive type, there were included 74 taken research projects of the library “Elizabeth Guerrero” of the UNIMAR. The information was a content matrix for the important methodological variables for the study as: type of research, approach, level of analysis, publication between others. In the results it was found 76 % of the products was realized by students and 24 % for teachers, the most used methodological approach was the quantitative one (93 %) with scarce use of the qualitative approach (7 %). 66 % of the products developed in public health, 28 % in intervention and 5 % administration. The projects have no impact because there are no publications of the same ones. Conclusion it is needed to prioritize improvement processes in the research of the program and to establish handlebars of follow-up for the advisers as a high balance of the projects towards the social projection. Also it is necessary to include theoretical modality based on models or specific theories that guarantee the scientific rigorousness to reach quality standards.
