Main Article Content
Introduction: Sports injuries are a recurring issue in all sports disciplines. The objective is to analyze the prevalence and specific characteristics of injuries that occur in racing skating, of athletes belonging to the senior categories of the Tequendama Club of Bogotá. Method: A mixed study was proposed, with two phases, the first quantitative, the second qualitative. To do this, surveys and field observations were applied to the skaters. Results: It was found that in this sport the most frequent injuries are fractures and that the most recurrent injury mechanism is direct trauma generally caused by strong falls. Furthermore, it was observed that the area of the body most affected is the lower body. As for the part
Qualitatively, it was possible to observe how poor warm-up and stretching are specific features of the appearance of injuries in this sport, as sports scenarios are also evident as an influential factor for the appearance of injuries. Other aspects that are of vital importance are those related to the need for optimal rest for the recovery of athletes and awareness about the correct completion of the rehabilitation processes. Conclusions: The presence of sports injuries becomes a modifiable condition since their characteristics can be intervened by ensuring the professional, technical and infrastructure resources necessary for the development of the sport, in this case skating.
