Author Guidelines

The document must be submitted in Microsoft Word format with the following characteristics:

• Letter-size page layout, single column, single line spacing, Arial 10-point font, justified text, sentence case and bold for the article title, its translation into English, and for the sections that structure the text (Abstract, Keywords, Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Methodology, Results, Conclusions, References). All manuscripts must be written following the guidelines of the template entitled: Article Submission Guidelines (Annex 2).


• Manuscripts must not exceed 6,000 words or be fewer than 4,000 words, excluding titles, abstract, keywords, and bibliography.


• If the document contains tables or graphs, these may not total more than six, and their origin must be specified.


• All articles must manage their references using reference management tools such as: Mendeley, Zotero, EndNote, or the Word referencing tool.


• It is mandatory that authors complete the following forms: Declaration of Originality (Annex 3), and the Copyright Assignment Letter, Patrimonial Rights and Authorization for Publication (Annex 4).


• All author data must be completed in full for ALL authors: These data must be entered directly on the OJS platform (NOT in the Word document) at the time of manuscript submission, in order to guarantee double-blind review, authorship, and order of appearance.

Article Structure and Content Requirements

For the presentation and submission of the article or document to the journal, it must include the following:

Title in Spanish, English, and Portuguese: The title must be written in Spanish, in sentence case according to the orthographic and grammatical rules of Spanish. It must be brief and concise (no more than 20 words). The title must be translated into English and Portuguese.

Abstract: Maximum length of 250 words and must contain, in a structured format: an Introduction, which includes a brief opening of the topics addressed and describes the research objective; the Method used; a synthesis of the Results; and the most relevant Conclusion of the study.

Keywords: Include 3 to 5 keywords found in the DeCS terminology list of the Virtual Health Library (VHL).

Abstract: This section presents the translation of the abstract into English. It will be presented in italics.

Keywords: Include 5 keywords found in the MeSH terminology list of the National Center for Biotechnology Information, U.S. National Library of Medicine.

Resumo: O resumo deve ter no máximo 250 palavras e conter uma Introdução estruturada: incluindo uma breve visão geral dos tópicos e descrevendo o objetivo da pesquisa, o método utilizado, um resumo dos resultados e as conclusões mais relevantes. O resumo deve ser traduzido para o português. Será apresentado em itálico.

Palavras-chave: Localize de 3 a 5 palavras-chave da lista de termos do DeCS na Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde (BVS).

Introduction: This section must contain a synthesis of the conceptual and theoretical reviews of the research, the problem statement, and the academic, social, and research-based justification. It is important to note that there must be coherence between the text and the study objectives, which must be clearly stated.

Method: This section presents the methodological framework (research design and stages) formulated to meet the objectives. In addition, it must indicate the population or settings addressed, the tools and materials used, the temporal delimitation, and the data analysis plan. Should subheadings be required, these must be placed in justified format, in lowercase and bold. Every article must describe, at the end of the methodology section, the ethical considerations of the study and indicate the ethics committee that approved the research.

Results: The results must address the objective stated in the introduction and must be presented in order and coherence with the objectives. In the case of figures, graphs, or tables produced by the authors, corresponding to research data not previously published, the label "Own elaboration" must be placed in the source field. If the figure, graph, or table was taken from a source but re-elaborated by the authors, the label "Own elaboration based on;" must be placed in the source field, followed by the full citation data of the publication in accordance with APA standards. It should be noted that this source must appear within the article's own citation sequence and in the final reference list. Finally, if a figure, graph, or table is taken from another source, the original source must be mentioned and the author's authorization must be obtained. The font size for legends corresponding to sources or additional explanations must be nine (9) points, and both the title and the source must be centered. Graphs, tables, and figures will be placed within the text as appropriate.

Discussion: This section corresponds to the contrast between the findings and the conceptual, referential, or theoretical framework addressed in the study, presenting a dialogue among the different authors. It must be developed, as far as possible, following the order of the objectives proposed in the article. Likewise, it must present the strengths and limitations of the study and identify gaps that pave the way for future research. Where relevant, the academic, scientific, social, or political impact of the research should be indicated.

Conclusions: Conclusions must be clear and coherent with the proposed objectives. They must express the extent to which the objectives were met, as well as the overall balance of the research.

Conflicts of Interest: Indicate the origin of the article and specify, if applicable, any funding received from an institutional call for proposals. A declaration of the presence or absence of a conflict of interest must be provided.

Acknowledgments: This section may include individuals or institutions that contributed to the achievement of the research. If funding was received from any entity, this may be indicated in this section.

References: The document must only contain references that were cited in the body of the text. References must be presented in accordance with APA standards. The following are some examples:
